Garments are then placed in a dry-cleaning machine containing a liquid solvent that removes other soils and grease. Dry cleaning is used for garments that cannot be washed in water such as wool and silk, and some synthetic fibers. Dry cleaning reduces shrinkage and color loss in these materials to keep them looking like new longer.
